baking industry

C

hocolate, the sweetest

temptation on earth, is

an absolute favourite for

the sweet-toothed. That’s down

to both the irresistible taste and

the enormous variety of choco-

lates you can find, which come

in every imaginable shape and

flavour. Whether it’s semi-bitter,

bitter or extra-bitter; milk choco-

late or white chocolate; refined

with chilli flakes or almond chips;

plain or praline, the list of tempt-

ing cocoa products is endless.

Such diversity is fantastic for

chocolate lovers, but presents

a big challenge for manufactur-

ers. To handle a steadily growing

product range, while still main-

taining high quality and keeping

costs in check, production pro-

cesses have to be particularly

flexible and efficient. Together

with manufacturers, the Bern-

dorf Band Group has taken on

the task of optimising integrated

production methods that achieve

efficiency and product quality.

Custom solutions “made in

Austria”

A full service provider, the exper-

tise of the Berndorf Band Group

extends from manufacturing steel

belts and plant development to

services for production processes

and conveyor belt systems. The

company can draw on extensive

and long-standing experience

built up over more than 90 years

in the market. This enables it to

support industrial producers with

their projects right from the initial

inquiry through to implemen-

tation and beyond, which may

range from identifying optimal

process parameters to the instal-

lation of custom plant and regular

maintenance services. Many well-

known confectionary producers

rely on the international group

due to this combination of techni-

cal expertise and comprehensive

service.

Proven quality:

Berndorf process belts

The high mechanical and thermal

demands associated with cocoa

processing call for process belts

of the highest quality. Thanks to

steel’s natural properties, belts

can be used at both high and

low temperatures. “Steel belts

also have to be highly resistant

to corrosion, especially in the

food industry as wet cleaning is

an essential part of daily opera-

tions. The material used to make

the belts, CARBO 32, combines a

range of benefits: strong resist-

ance to abrasion, corrosion and

deformation, as well as high flex-

ural strength,” explains Berndorf

Band GmbH Sales Director Thor-

leif Svanfeldt Brokke, emphasis-

ing the special properties of the

high-end material.

End-to-end solutions

As a full-service provider of eve-

rything to do with steel belts,

the Berndorf Band Group manu-

factures and installs a large

number of components that sup-

port belt tracking and friction-

free operation. This increases

a belt’s service life as well as

optimising processes. After an

expert has inspected the exist-

ing equipment to identify which

mechanism is required, it can be

installed within just a few weeks.

The international group also of-

fers comprehensive, worldwide

service: “From steel belt instal-

lations, repairs, inspections, to

planning new installations and

upgrading existing machinery –

manufacturers in all sectors rely

on our ability to provide them

with effective support. They value

us as a partner and as experts in

our field. We develop bespoke

solutions in collaboration with

the customer to meet any spe-

cial requirements,” says Brokke,

summing up the group’s wide-

ranging capabilities.

Berndorf Band at interpack 2017

This year will also see the com-

pany showcase innovative tech-

nology that is aimed at optimising

continuous production processes

at the international trade fair for

packaging machinery and pack-

aging materials interpack, from

4-10 May in Dusseldorf, Germany.

“At interpack we’ll be present-

ing ourselves as an innovative,

multi-faceted and, above all,

customer-focused company. That

personal contact is one of the

major ingredients in our success.

The fair is also an ideal platform

for us to present our products and

highlight our increased focus on

service to long-standing partners

and other visitors,” says Brokke.
