16 Ausg.Nr._10/2019 Conferenz D as Institut für Werk- zeugmaschinen (IfW) der Universität Stuttgart be- schäftigt sich seit Jahrzehnten mit der Werkzeug- und Maschi- nentechnologie in der Holzverar- beitung. Das IfW stellt zur LIGNA 2019 aktuelle Forschungsprojek- te und Impulse aus der industri- ellen Fertigungstechnik, welche am Institut aufgegriffen und weiterentwickelt werden, vor. Die Forschungsschwerpunkte sind: Maschinen-, Werk- zeug- und Prozessentwicklungen, Absaug- technologie, Prozessüberwa- chung und -regelung, energie- effiziente und ressourcenscho- nende Fertigungsverfahren, Elektrowerkzeuge sowie Ma- schinensicherheit. Statische und dynamische Unter- suchungen im Prozess und am Werkzeug führen zu Leistungsstei- gerungen imFertigungsprozess bei Einhaltung der geforderten Quali- tätskriterien. In der Zerspanungstechnik bieten sich neue Herausforderungen: die Minimierung der Kräfte und der Schnittverluste sowie die Bear- beitung verschiedenster Materia- lien (Kunststoffe, faserverstärkte Kunststoffe, Verbundwerkstoffe jeglicher Art, …) auf Holzbearbei- tungsmaschinen. Im Fokus aktu- eller Forschungsthemen am IfW liegen weiter die Reduzierung des Energieverbrauchs, der Staub- emissionen und Lärmemissionen in der Fertigung. Der additive und subtraktive Fertigungspro- zess wird am IfWund am Messestand abgebildet und Antworten auf Herausforderun- gen in der Prozessgestaltung ge- geben. Weiterhin werden aktuelle Schwerpunktthemen aus For- schung und Entwicklung im Rah- men des LIGNA.Forums in Halle 11 präsentiert.  Text : Universität Stuttgart Keplerstraße 7 D-70174 Stuttgart Bild: Deutsche Messe Processing of Plastics and Composites (PPC) • Messe und Forum in Hannover End-of-show report on LIGNA.Conference 2018 in Guangzhou A ttendees were unani- mous that the confer- ence gave a clear and compelling overview of the challenges currently facing the woodworking and timber pro- cessing industries, providing a quality roundup of the latest approaches and developments in digitization, automation, IoT platforms and product individu- alization. Over the course of two busy, thought-provoking days, 11 speakers from diverse sectors of the woodworking, timber pro- cessing and other, allied indus- tries shared their thoughts and experiences on digitization and the way it is being implemented in their respective production processes, focusing on cur- rent best practices. The speaker lineup, consisting of experts from China and abroad, was very high-caliber, making for an en- gaging, stimulating program. "The LIGNA.Conference in Chi- na was a complete success," commented Christian Pfeiffer, Deutsche Messe's Global Direc- tor of LIGNA & Woodworking Events. "With its lineup of engag- ing, highly relevant topics based around the overarching themes of digitally integrated woodwork- ing and wood processing, the challenges currently facing the industry in China and around the world and the resulting oppor- tunities for industrial and small- scale furniture manufacturing, the conference delivered real value for its attendees. Our deci- sion to stage this year's confer- ence in Southern China, the heart of the Chinese furniture industry, was right on the money." The two-day conference also featured presentations and dis- plays by Biesse, Durst Photo- technik, HOMAG Group, Leuco Ledermann, SCM Group, Siem- pelkamp, Wemhöner Surface Technologies, Michael Weinig and Rosenheim University. Con- ference participants used this part of the event for informal dia- loguing and networking.
