Fairmessage-A&A-2023

Ausg. Nr._04/2023 5 Safety shoes The shoe manufacturer Stuco had several shoe models from the area of safety and work shoes tested by OEKO-TEX®. Ten models have already been certified, and others will soon complete the testing process. More than 250 work steps and over 60 individual parts are required to produce a high-quality and comfortable safety shoe. From the leather to the rubber and the yarn to the individual eyelets, Stuco had each of these individual parts - including the non-textile components - tested by OEKO-TEX® in the laboratory for harmful chemical ingredients. With success: ten models have been awarded the OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD label and others are about to complete the testing process. For people and nature As a manufacturer of safety and work shoes with its own, purely European production, sustainability with fair production is more than just lip service. Even during the development of the shoes, Stuco attaches great importance to sustainable and environmentally compatible materials as well as suppliers who also meet these criteria. In addition to the certification according to ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 9001 (quality) as well as Amfori BSCI (social) and EcoVadis (sustainability), Stuco has now also decided to carry out corresponding certifications on the product level. For Stuco customers, this is a further guarantee of sustainability, quality and safety. Leather articles tested for harmful substances In the manufacturing process of certain materials, such as tanning leather or dyeing yarn, a number of chemicals are used. The LEATHER STANDARD label from OEKO-TEX® signals to customers that the labelled article has been manufactured from materials that do not contain any chemicals that pose a health risk. The individual components of the products are tested by one of the independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes. This is done on the basis of the globally standardised OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog, which comprises several hundred regulated individual substances. The limit values and test criteria are in many cases stricter than nationally and internationally applicable specifications and contain various parameters for health protection. OEKO-TEX® updates the test criteria at least once a year, taking into account the latest scientific findings and changes in the relevant legislation. Safe, comfortable and ecological First-class quality, outstanding wearing comfort and uncompromising safety - safety and work shoes from Stuco have always been all of these. With the OEKO-TEX® label, however, it is now also ensured that the shoes are ecologically safe with regard to the materials used and free of ingredients that are harmful to health. The first certified models are all sporty, light and modern, made of cowhide nubuck leather, equipped with particularly soft materials and, depending on the protection class, in some cases with an ergonomically shaped steel toe cap and puncture-resistant metal-free insole, which provide optimum protection for the feet. Trust is good, control is possible The models certified by OEKOTEX® are checked and recertified once a year along the updated test criteria. Each individual product in the certified product range is provided with a label showing the label, a test number and a QR code. This means that customers always have the opportunity to check the validity of the certification themselves. Text & Bild: Stuco AG Industrieweg 12 CH-3360Herzogenbuchsee www.stuco.com Tel: +41 62 956 50 10 Mail: info@stuco.ch World's first safety and work shoes available with OEKO-TEX® label Sporty, light and modern.
